Hermit Crab Beach Treasure

Don't be surprised to find that the snail moving about in the tide pool is not a snail. It could be a Hermit Crab that has taken up residence in an abandoned shell. The Hermit Crab has no home of its own in which to take refuge and must make do with occupying the shells other crustaceans have left behind. There is no such thing as taking up permanent residence since the crab must seek roomier accommodations as it grows. To add to its housing problem the Crab often has to defend it's chosen home from other crabs who are also seeking a habitat. 1.5" wide.
